Thoughts about my blog

I only have a few minutes before we leave for the eye clinic; however, I wanted to add a thought about my last few posts...

Although I have mentioned that the food is not exactly great and the hostel is a tad primitive, I want to be abundantly clear that I am extremely grateful for what I have here, as it is so much more than the locals. The abundance of food we have here (even if it isn't the tastiest) and the safety and cleanliness of the hostel is a blessing and I am so grateful for this experience. I truly hope to make a difference here. These people are the world's forgotten and despite the immense poverty, you see pride and happiness in them and I know they will change me and influence me more than I ever will them.

The amazing medical/spiritual things they are doing here are truly life changing and I am so happy to be a small part of this...

Ok, it's off to paint the clinic and interact with the locals. I miss you guys back home. Ethan - I love you so much. You are the best thing that ever happened to me! I miss you!

  1. Emily,
Jodie shared this with me to follow your journeys. I read it with tears in my eyes. I am so proud of you for devoting your time to this at a sacrifice of being away from Ethan. Sounds like this will be a life altering experience for you. Looking forward to your days ahead. Be careful. You have a Weezer cruise in January:) hugs to you!! Cindy Mashe

  2. It's great that you have the desire and dedication to go help and serve over seas! It must really make you feel blessed and grateful that you have to experience to help those in need.

  3. My group and I cannot help, but keep talking about how brave we think you and your team are for what you are doing in Sierra Leone. We would love to know how you were able to have the opportunity for something as incredible as this. My friends and I have all dreamed of getting the chance to go a foreign country, reach out, and help the people in similar sad conditions. We can only imagine just how hard life is in Sierra Leone, and the struggles that the children and their families face. My peers and I are praying for god to allow you and your team to really make a difference and reach many with your medical benefits. We are also praying for all of those who have been affected by the various deadly diseases occupying Sierra Leone. Congratulations on this amazing opportunity, and we at Coppell High School, who were not blessed with the same opportunity, thank you greatly for you and your teams help!
